Just as you would experience at top salons in New York and Chicago, we are departmentalized. This means our staff specializes in cutting or color. This specialization allows our staff to be experts in their area of focus.

We take education seriously at salonW and strive to set the benchmark in Des Moines. Each member of our team completes an extensive advanced education program that takes approximately one year to complete. Our advanced stylists continue education with weekly classes and out-of-state education trips in order to train with the best in the industry.

Mollie
STYLIST
Level 1, Haircut $30

Mollie’s diverse life experiences help her connect with every client and create a truly fun salon experience. She loves to travel and recently returned from a cutting class in New York City with Nick Arrojo from What Not To Wear. The former New Orleans and New Hampshire resident, Mollie brings big city style and diversity back to the Midwest. Look out Des Moines—Mollie’s back in town!

Lance
COLORIST
Level 2, Single Process Color $60

Who is everyone raving about these days? Our colorist, LANCE! Not a day passes without hearing “Lance is amazing!” or “My hair has never looked so good!” We aren’t sure if it is Lance’s passion for hairdressing, sweet nature or keen eye for enhancing your best features, but one thing is certain, he is talented. So talented that Lance just returned from an Advanced Color Class at Aveda’s New York Academy as part of the reward for winning the Aveda 2007 Be Curly Hair Competition.

Micki
COLORIST
Level 3, Single Process $60

Micki is a dedicated colorist whose vivacious personality will leave you and your hair feeling revived. Micki’s dedication is most apparent in her desire for knowledge. She has attended continuing education classes all over the United States and abroad in London and Paris. She continues to add to her repertoire through education and is therefore always able to deliver the most current looks.

Nova
Colorist
Level 1, Single Process $55

Nova began her artistic career as a graduate of Wartburg’s graphic design program, a program which undoubtedly laid the foundation for her exceptional eye for detail. Nova’s extraordinary sense of beauty and mastery of Aveda’s color line allows her to produce a contemporary look perfect for any style. A gifted fasionista, Nova takes the time to demonstrate the latest styling techniques so that every client is able to create salon-quality looks at home. Whether it’s color revival or an entirely new look, Nova has the natural skill and outstanding training to accomplish virtually any style.

Elle
Assistant/Stylist-In-Training

Elle is salonW’s newest rising star! With a warm and vivacious personality and an obvious passion for the beauty industry, Elle is quickly becoming one of Des Moines most promising new talents. Elle has an education in business and marketing from Iowa State University and has attended beauty shows like the Midwest Beauty Show and Lake Geneva Beauty Show. Her dedication to excellence is enabling Elle to surpass even our highest expectations. We are lucky to have her!  

Amanda James
Makeup Artist

Amanda James is our resident makeup artist. The specialized looks she creates are as unique as her interests. Amanda is a Drake Law student, community advocate and change maker.  She devotes her free time to helping Iowa communities in need apply for grants and create new visions for their future. Let this devotee of Kevin Aucoin and the other greats, create a new vision for you.
